Description
I'm Considering Offers on a variety of extremely rare Grateful Dead Acid Test memorabilia. - I am offering here, for sale, a 100% Guaranteed Original Grateful Dead Hand-Colored Acid Test Poster - A.O.R. 2.5, by Paul Foster - THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF ROCK AND ROCK MEMORABILIA IN THE WORLD - A TRUE HOLY GRAIL AND CORNERSTONE OF ANY SERIOUS COLLECTION - Measures approx 8 1/2" x 44" and the frame included measures 14 3/4" x 50" - This poster has been professionally backed to linen. Its been hand painted with watercolors and pastels, by the Merry Pranksters in 1965. According to Mountain Girl, whom I have interviewed, approx a dozen of these were made as gifts and given out to close friends of the Pranksters and Grateful Dead. These were not used for shows, and the Muir Beach piece that is fitted to this poster, was added due to the original piece being missing at the time this poster was first retrieved from Reggie Williams, the owner of the Straight Theater whom it was first gifted to. The Pranksters pulled up in their bus to Reggie's office on Haight Street and gifted it to him and it hung on his wall of his office for a couple years until it was folded up and placed in a trunk until 1987 when it was sold to Mike Zaidlen, of 60's.com, at a poster show. This poster is also featured in the front of the book, "High Art", though, with far less signatures than it has now.Mike collected many of the signatures of attendees, located all around the poster on the matting. I collected some of them, myself as well. here is the list of signatories starting from the top right, clockwise:
Lee Quarnstrom (Merry Prankster), Robert Hunter, David Nelson, George Walker, Sunshine Kesey, Richard Alpert (Ram Dass)Hank Harrison, Sonny Barger of the Hell's Angels, Wavy Gravy, Allen Ginsberg, Tom Constantin, Ramrod, Ken Kesey, John Swan (Prankster), Rock Scully, Ken Babbs, Phil Dietz (Prankster), Chuck Kesey, Phil Lesh, Herb Greene, Sara Garcia, Mountain Girl, Bob Weir, Timothy Leary, Billy Kreutzmann, Grace Slick, Mike Hagen (Prankster) & Chet Helms - Almost all of these people were actual attendees of the acid test events.
This is literally a piece of psychedelic artwork, not just a Poster. Please consider this if bidding. This is a very special item. The hand coloring matches the hand coloring on my handbill that was hand colored by the Merry Pranksters, also available at this time.
An opportunity like this may never come up again. This is truly a "once in a lifetime" chance to acquire a very important piece of early psychedelic history, that is sure to increase in value over time.
Potential Buyers may inspect this item in person, prior to bidding. Send me a request for a meeting, prior to bidding and we can set it up.
Please ask questions BEFORE bidding. I WOULD PREFER NOT TO SHIP THIS ITEM. PLEASE CONSIDER PICKING UP IN PERSON.
There is extensive documentation on these items and the events on the website at http://www.postertrip.com/public/5568.cfm
This is a Great Investment Item. Acid Test Posters and Handbills are the most collectable items of the psychedelia rock and roll period. Recently, 2 Examples of 1st Print Family Dog 26 (Skull & Roses) Posters sold for over 0,000.00 and there are at least 50 of those in Existence. Psychedelic Concert Posters are one of today's most solid investments.
I'll be listing more items like these in the coming weeks ahead so stay tuned. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding.
